Arlovski and Rogers Share Their Mutual Respect

Originally posted on FCfighter.com

Heavyweights Andrei Arlovski and Brett Rogers were quick to share their respect for the other, during a teleconference held yesterday by Strikeforce, as the two will square off at the promotion’s upcoming June 6th “Lawler vs. Shields” event in St.Louis. The card will of course be headlined by a catch-weight bout of 182lbs. between Jake Shields and Robbie Lawler, and will also feature Scott Smith vs. Nick Diaz and Joe Riggs vs. Phil Baroni.

Although Rogers (9-0) will head into bout having never lost, the Elite XC vet apparently feels as though he has not received the level of respect he deserves.

“Things are great,” Rogers said during the teleconference. “I’m just getting ready for next week. This is definitely going to be a step up in class. Arlovski has been in the game for quite some time. He has plenty of experience. Those are the type of fighters I’m trying to fight from here on out. For me, now, it’s about building respect. I feel like I don’t have it, so fighting Arlovski is going to be a fun and challenging event on June 6.’’
