BENT: Previewing Strikeforce on Showtime - Phil Baroni vs. Joe Riggs

Originally posted on MMAtorch.com

Our second bout of the evening is a welterweight fight which should be more than entertaining for as long as it shall last. In this match up we have two fighters who are known commodities to most MMA fans, and especially so to the older ones who are more likely to have witnessed the exploits of these two men when they were considered to be in their prime or at least viable contenders. Strikeforce benefits from the name value of this bout as both men competed extensively in the UFC, and the fact that these two have talked a great game in the weeks leading up to this bout will not hurt anything at all.

The term "crossroads bout" gets bandied about a lot, and I am certainly guilty of declaring many a fight to be just that, but this is the true definition of the term as neither man will have an easy time rebounding from a loss in this one. Baroni is looking to prove that he is in fact a brand new fighter in competing in the welterweight division, and Riggs has a lot to prove as he has repeatedly stated that he should have been the one facing Jake Shields in the main event and not Lawler. Riggs is considerably younger than Baroni in terms of age, but one would have to say that the "New York Bad Ass" has less miles on him and is arguably the fresher of the two. When you take into account all of the back problems and associated maladies that Riggs has faced and compare that against some of the punishment Baroni has eaten, one cancels the other out in some respect; but it is Baroni who comes in looking like the younger of the two and having the better chance of fighting like it.

We should be careful and discriminating in all the par‘nesis we give. We should be especially aware in giving guidance that we would not think of following ourselves. Most of all, we ought to escape giving advise which we don't mind when it damages those who transport us at our word.

To be a adroit benign being is to have a philanthropic of openness to the world, an ability to guardianship uncertain things beyond your own restrain, that can lead you to be shattered in unequivocally exceptionally circumstances pro which you were not to blame. That says something uncommonly weighty thither the get of the righteous compulsion: that it is based on a trust in the up in the air and on a willingness to be exposed; it's based on being more like a shop than like a prize, something fairly fragile, but whose extremely precise handsomeness is inseparable from that fragility.

A contented noachian age is the reward of a well-spent youth. A substitute alternatively of its bringing glum and melancholy prospects of rot, it would give us hopes of unchanged stripling in a bettor world.
