Hard-Hitting, Hard-Luck Radach Deserves Title Shot

Benji Radach knows how to make a comeback. He ought to; he’s done it enough times already.

When Radach turned in a surprisingly dominant TKO win over Murilo “Ninja” Rua during the EliteXC: Heat broadcast on Saturday, it ended yet another extended break from the cage to rest and rehab his battered neck. Now that he’s back and healthy, the Washington State native is waiting again. This time waiting to see who emerges victorious from middleweight champion Robbie Lawler’s November defense against Joey Villasenor.

If EliteXC is still in business by then and still true to its word, Radach should meet the winner of that fight for the 185-pound strap sometime early in 2009. If it happens, it’ll be a title shot he sorely deserves. If not, it’ll be yet another sorry instance of Radach’s career getting sidetracked by situations beyond his control.
