Joe Riggs vs Phil Baroni possible for June StrikeForce card

Originally posted on UrDirt.com

After having his April 11 StrikeForce match-up with Jake Shields getting taken off, there was still a possibility that Joe Riggs would still get another opponent in time for the event. Instead, the San Jose based promotion decided to add Heavyweight Brett Rogers into the card to face Ron Humphries and now leaving Riggs completely off the April Showtime event. However; it is very possible that Riggs will be added to the network’s second StrikeForce card in the month of June where he will now face Phil Baroni up in St.Louis, Missouri.

Sources close to the situation have told MMAWeekly.com’s Insider Blog that the bout was offered to both fighters, but nothing has yet been finalized at this time.

Riggs who was originally scheduled to meet Jake Shields on April 11 will now be headlining the June StrikeForce card against Robbie Lawler in a Middleweight bout and as for the “Diesel” he was victorious in his last fight for the promotion back in the month of November when he gained a first round TKO win over Luke Stewart in his first fight back at Welterweight.

Meanwhile; Baroni changed it around after also making the cut to 170 pounds has reeled off three straight wins of his own and has not fought since October where he fought for the Palace Fighting Championship where he picked up the victory over Olaf Alonso where he picked up the decision.
